The decision by Halton Council to grant planning permission to Veolia to build a dry waste site in Pickering Road was quashed by Mrs Justice Lieven.

Further to our News article in July’s in relation to some concerns raised about Veolia moving onto Halebank Industrial Estate. The result of the Judicial Review has now been confirmed and the decision went in favour of Halebank Parish Council.

The planning application will now be re-submitted to Halton Council to ensure that correct planning law is followed by the Development Control Committee.

As far as we know, the date for the latest planning hearing has not yet been set as the application has not yet been re-submitted by Veolia.

We have had a subsequent conversation with David Bridgwood as the National Planning Manager for Veolia and enquired what happens next for Veolia? David’s response was as follows “the application will be redetermined by the Planning Committee and we will provide any information the Council ask for in order to assist them”.
